To the dance community…

It is with great sadness and sorrow that I announce the passing of our fellow Cleveland dance community member, CJ Starr, after his battle with leukemia. He made his transition today (July 22) at 3:30pm.

I am at a loss of words…..This isn't easy news to distribute and comprehend via written communication but it was request that it was forwarded to everyone. He definitely will be missed….I won't forget one of his favorite sayings he always said to me…"from one stepper to another!"

There currently are no further details at this time. I will keep you updated on anything I know.

I personally ask that you please continue to keep Gwen, their family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this understandably difficult time.

Our Hearts are broken at the loss of our brother, C.J. Starr!
Even when we know our loved one is gravely ill, it still comes as a shock and saddens us so very deeply.
We echo all the thoughts and prayers and stand in agreement to support Gwen and his family.
We also ask that each one of us Honor C.J.'s wish,
which is to not only become aware of blood diseases and it's particularly devasting effect on African-Americans,
but take just a moment to be tested and to be added to the
Bone Marrow Donor listing!

The "Be the Match" is a national marrow donor program, which, for over 25 years, has matched thousands of patients with donors to receive the transplants they need.

CJ's friends and the support of Be the Match are holding a bone Marrow donor drive on Saturday , July 27, 2013 at the 10th anniversary , Family Unity in the Park Concert & Fireworks Show at Luke Easter Park of 3090 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Cleveland, OH 44104.

A specially invited guest, R&B Artist, Avant will be signing CD's at our booth from 2pm-4pm to share with us in bringing awareness. www.avantofficial.com.
